Industrial music–especially the instrumental sort–can be grim, but it’s usually about surviving the grimness in spite of it, not succumbing. And sometimes it’s just post-modern, using a lot of machine sounds. I like the energy of it, myself, and some of it is pretty “stiff upper lip” stuff. Or, maybe kind of gothic, but with machinery.
My kind of stuff. Edgy, dirty, tough, realistic, but hopeful overall, in a defiant sort of way.
